| The basic principle of BC-D40/C ments is the layer-structure in which mica, and inert core substrate, is coated with a dense layer of conductive, inorganic mixed-metal-oxides antimony-doped tin dioxide). Pure tin dioxide is an insulator but by suitable doping with antimony oxide semi-conductor properties are acquired. Mica serves as an extender particle which provides a highly efficient, cost-effective way of utilizing the conductive outer shell. The platelet shape is beneficial in the formation of a conductive pathway by imparting a particle-to-particle network within the final coatings.
